We here at 3B Web use Adobe Photoshop on a daily basis, and are rather excited having got our hands on the latest update to the product range, Creative Suite 4.
I believe that with each update or new release of a product, there should be several fundamental improvements, or new features impletmented in order to make the whole upgrade process worthwhile. Here are just a few of the updates we are excited about!
A seriously worthwhile update is that of hugely improved GPU
acceleration, by which I mean that photoshop not only utilises the
power of your processor, it also combines the power of your graphics
card processor, which takes the user one step closer to a fast,
efficient and seamless editing process.
I also find myself working with RAW images an awful lot, and am really
enjoying the changes to the Camera Raw engine, making what can be a
time consuming and labourious task, just that bit quicker, especially
when needing to crop or selectively edit areas of your RAW image. If
you are a budding photographer, this is a very significant update.
For us, as web developers, constantly having to process and edit and resize images, the "Content Aware
Scaling" feature has real potential, as it is a way to
scale your images without loosing the quality or integrity of the image, two classic pitfalls of resizing images. In connection with this, we are often having to multi-task, working with many images at once, and as such the addition of tabbed documents, as with the recent trend of browsers such as Internet Explorer following Opera and Firefox's example, has the potential to greatly increase our productivity.
These are just a few of my initial thoughts, so please stay tuned for future updates and revelations, however in the mean time, head over to Chris Orwig's Site for other insights and hints.
