Joomla - Creating a gallery of photos (using Simple Image Gallery Pro)
Written by Jack Bremer
Monday, 24 September 2007
Inserting a gallery of photos in a content item has never been easier!
  1. Click on the "insert image" button
  2. Create a suitably named folder inside the "gallery" folder
  3. Upload all of your images for this particular gallery to that folder, one at a time, ensuring that they are resized to suitable dimensions for the web (600px is ideal)
  4. Once the images are online, close the image window so that you're just back in Joomla itself.
  5. This is the clever bit - just type in:
    • Image folder specified does not exist!
    •

(Make sure you don't omit the / in the second tag)
So, if you've made a folder within "gallery" called "exhibition2007" you would type
    • Image folder specified does not exist!
    •
  6. Save the content item and check it out on the site - hey presto, an automatic image gallery!
If you like what you see, and want to play with the gallery more (changing the size of the thumbnails, showing just one in the item, which pops up to show the whole gallery etc) then just have a read of this: http://demo.joomlaworks.gr/content/view/36/1/

1"how to show subfolders?"
on Monday, 05 October 2009 12:27by Thomas
Good evening!
I am looking for a gallery that allows browsing into sub directories if any.
Anyone found a tweak how I can get SimpleGallery to do this?
Cheers
Thomas

SimpleGallery won't do it as standard - you'd want to combine something like Tabs & Slides with SIGPro to have tabbed selection of folders.

Then just use {gallery}folder/subfolder{/gallery} to show each one respectively.
