There are a large plethora of hosting services available, in many shapes and sizes, with an even greater number of companies offering these wide variety of services.
The result of this amazing variety is often a fair amount of confusion and scepticism. In order to help you avoid these two reactions, we have some hints and tips for the best way to organise your hosting.
There are several different types of hosting, each with their own pros
and cons and price tags to match. In increasing price and
configurability order, these are shared (often known as virtual),
co-located and dedicated (in both unmanaged and managed flavours).
Shared hosting is a very popular choice, primarily due to the low costs
involved, and the fact that the hosting company deals with all of the
management and maintenance. However, sharing your server with other
clients can lead to resource and performance problems, especially at
peak times, and the customisation options are usually very limited,
restricting the software choices you can make. If you already own your
own server, then co-located hosting could be a good choice, as you
maintain your own server, and the hosting company provides the
utilities and network capabilities.
Our preferred option however is dedicated hosting as it provides the
greatest flexibility and scalability for both cost and configuration.
If you do not think you will be requiring large amounts of support,
then unmanaged may be the way to go, however, as with any contract, the
general terms and conditions should be carefully inspected, as the
level of support and service provided can vary wildly between
companies! If you want the highest level of support, maintainance and
guarantees, then managed dedicated hosting is your ticket. The services
provided often include server uptime monitoring, hardware warranty and
security updates, but once again, doing your homework on the small
print is vital.
If you are considering a range of hosting options, and want to make sense of the miriad of pricing options, take a look at our Package Pricing Guide. Alternatively, take a look at the hosting and registration services we offer.

Virtual hosting is something you need to look to , If someone want the power of dedicated server but don't need all the recourses of a full dedicated server, then VPS is best fit. I recommend Xen VPS from VEXXHOST as it give dedicated RAM, CPU and space.

Hi Jim and thanks for your comment... We do offer and recommend virtual hosting to many of our clients - picking the appropriate hosting package for a client is part of our responsibility as digital media experts, and for many companies a VPS is the best bet. We personally like ThirdSphere for hosting - great value and support with all the toys already in place!
