Bute House Independent Girls' school in London

There will always be some reasonably unique challenges faced by any development house when designing and building a school website.

Certainly these elements came into play during what turned out to be a protracted project lifecycle but we were delighted to have as our main point of contact within the school an IT professional who understood both our constraints and keenness to adhere to a rigid project timeline as well as his own internal needs to satisfy a less “ IT savvy” Senior Management Team.

The resulting site is marvellous; a fully responsive web presence that truly reflects the school’s ethos as being full of “energy, vibrancy and fun”.

The site is built in Joomla (as was their previous site) and combines a previously external parents’ login area into the site seamlessly. We were able to take our extensive previous experience in the Education Sector and bring that expertise to bear in terms of relaying to the Senior Management Team the need for, and then delivering, a properly mobile experience.

The on-site IT professionals at the school were terrifically enthusiastic and proactive in migrating the old content, re-writing much of it, and applying the new Information Architecture throughout - the user journey has been thought about and applied brilliantly by both them and us.

It was hugely refreshing to deal with client liaisons who were able to undertake the content management so expertly and thoroughly - it is this, as much as anything we do as a web development agency - that ensures that a website is a tool “fit for purpose” going forward.
