Digital Transformation - Password management and security

As an agency we write talk and write about Digital Transformation constantly and it’s our assertion that this includes back office protocols. None is more important than personal and professional password hygiene and security.

We are often astonished how exposed even our largest clients are in terms of their password management. I would suggest that most internal IT departments might spend a little less time managing and maintaining outdated and frankly superfluous email servers, and a little more rigorously enforcing company-wide password regimes.

Areas of particular concern, aside from the obvious access to emails, intranets, web-admins and the like, include personal social media accounts from whence company pages are managed as well as shared Twitter accounts etc.

Fixes and strategies are easier to apply than you might imagine. All that’s needed is acceptance of the need and a will to administer a new regime - especially if you embrace one of the growing number of enterprise level (and quite affordable) password managers.

We unreservedly recommend 1Password - we’ve tried a few managers in the past but this tool really ticks all the boxes from a corporate perspective. Note that the corporate accounts also offer your staff personal “family” accounts that are greatly appreciated.

We offer password security strategy and enforcement as a service alongside any and all of the back office consultancy of which we are so proud and assertive.

You may also like to take a moment to review where you stand in terms of password hygiene and exposure by using tools such as haveibeenpwned.com - a really terrific online resource that can tell you very quickly if you’ve already been compromised.

Whether you have or not there’s a very good chance you’re going to need to have a long hard think about the importance of your security strategy and you can significantly lessen the onerousness of that task by getting in touch with us.
